I was appointed as the best soldier in a mop-up campaign against Trutizan. That was why they sent me to the relic transportation squad.

We were supposed to move the royal relic to a shrine in a remote island, and I was very proud to be the part of this operation.

But right after we finished storing the last package, the Chief Wizard started to attack us. I thought something was off, and I ran away from the shrine with others. But the wizard came after us, and took us off one by one. He injured me as well, but I was not about to give up yet.

The wizard lashed another attack, and the ground I was standing collapsed.

The shock almost shattered me, but not bad enough to kill me. The wizard must have thought I was dead. He didn't come after me any further.

Then, fog crept in. I patched myself up sitting in the fog. My body ached all over, but what hurt me the most was the sense of betrayal. What the wizard did... was that an arbitrary action of his own? Or a planned attack?

I shook my head. The most important thing now was to leave this island alive. There must be someone at the dock. I stood up and looked around, but the fog was too thick. I could almost hear someone dragging something heavy in the fog. Maybe another survivor. I started to walk. The fog was getting thicker and thicker.
